Why Should You Consider Block Masonry?

While it’s no secret that block work isn’t as aesthetically appealing as brick or stone masonry, it’s more structurally sound than both of them. Block work tends to play a role when it comes to creating stone steps or brick mailboxes. It adds that structural support necessary for bearing weight.

What Can You Do About The Appearance?

Usually when there is exposed block work it can be covered up by brick or stone. This is a pricey solution and if you’re looking for a more affordable option we recommend stucco. In short, stucco is a cement like product that is about 1 inch thick. It’s texture can vary from smooth to distressed.

Split-Face Block

If none of these seem like an option for you, split-face block is as aesthetically pleasing as it gets for block work. It gives the block an appearance that it has been chiseled or split to give it a textured look.

This block also comes in a variety of colors such as beige, red, gray, etc. Usually split-face block is used in retention walls but it can be used anywhere in your home.
